Nontokozo Setiba, 29
An Advocate of the High Court of South Africa and Global Shaper of the World Economic Forum, Nontokozo holds both a BA and an LLB Degree from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. She is an Alumnus of the Leader Academy® (Belgium) leadership program for executive teams and earned postgraduate certificates in Project Management (WitsPlus) and Risk Governance and Compliance Law (Mandela Institute -Wits).
Nontokozo founded a campus based non-profit initiative called Fundisa; whose goal is to bridge the information and soft-skills gab between High School, Tertiary Education and the workforce. This initiative is supported by the Wits Citizenship and Community Outreach Programme and the Student Leadership and Development Unit at the University of the Witwatersrand. The initiative was recognized when she was awarded the Social Innovator of the Year in 2014.
Combining her passions about Compliance, Governance, Education, Public Policy, Human Rights, Human Development and bridging the digital divide through increased access to Technology; Nontokozo carved out a unique career path in both Civic Organizations and Social Enterprises as a Risk, Legal and Compliance Officer.
She is currently employed as a Regulatory Risk Manager in the Executive Office of the FirstRand Group; Headquartered in Sandton, Johannesburg. She is the incoming Deputy Curator of the Global Shaper-Soweto Hub. She moderates and speaks on panel discussions and radio programmes regarding the issues closest to her heart, namely; education, development and thought leadership. In a nutshell; she is a vibrant, driven, compassionate and ambitions young woman who believes that the problem that infuriates you the most is the one that you have been assigned to solve.
Fun Fact: I can sing…well. I actually won an award in High School.
