A Mandela Rhodes Scholar and Global Shaper of the World Economic Forum, Tumelo holds degrees in Actuarial Science (Cum Laude) and Mathematical Statistics from the University of the Free State and is an Alumnus of the Leader Academy® (Belgium) leadership program for executive teams.

Tumelo is founder and Programs Director of the Botswana based Afrika Ithute non-profit organisation whose mandate is to facilitate a process of social reconciliation and healing on the African continent and develop ethical leaders. Afrika Ithute’s mandate is realized through training in Self-Leadership, Career Development, Entrepreneurship Development and the Afrika Ithute Mentoring Program.

Combining her skills and passion for education and social development, Tumelo has also founded a social enterprise, MathLead, which provides Mathematics tuition for Form 5 students. With MathLead, she is able to play a direct role in restoring Botswana’s schooling system. MathLead’s vision is to build a generation of young people with strong numeracy and problem solving skills, and who are able to analyse complex systems. This mission lies within a greater vision she has for the African continent – to develop a generation of ethical and conscious African leaders.

For her work on MathLead and Afrika Ithute, Tumelo has been featured on the Botswana Investor Magazine and as a Speaker at the Botswana Innovation Hub under the theme: “Developing Future Leaders and Moulding Entrepreneurs”.
